A Note From The Principal

Dear MHMS Families,

This week, administration had the pleasure of visiting 6th, 7th and 8th grade classrooms to recognize our students who made the MHMS Honor Roll for second quarter.  We had hundreds of students make the Honor Roll, and we are so proud of their accomplishments.   We had a total of 105 students earn Silver Honor Roll recognition (all A’s, B’s and one C),  271 students earned Gold Honor Roll recognition (all A’s and B’s), and 119 students earned Principal’s Honor Roll recognition (all A’s).

Course Registration forms were scheduled to go home with all 6th and 7th grade students today.  Due to our inclement weather day, they will be distributed on Monday, March 5th.  The Course Registration form lists courses that your student has been recommended to be enrolled in for next school year, by their current teachers based on current placement and additional data points.  Once you receive the Course Registration form, if you have any questions regarding the recommendations, please contact your student’s school counselor- Ms. Portnoy or Ms. Raymond.

The MHMS PTA will host a 5K this on March 24th.  Please save the date, and more information will be shared very soon.

Sincerely,

Lisa R. Smithson

8th GRADE NEWS

Upcoming Field Trip:  The 8th Grade class has a field trip coming up on Tuesday, March 27th. We will be going to the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture. Students can come into school at the regular time but will need to get picked up after school, as we will get back at approximately 4:30 p.m. If your student is going home with someone other than their own parent/guardian, please send a note to Ms. Schaefer. Permission slips were already sent home and are due back to Social Studies teachers as soon as possible. There are extra copies of the permission slip (and required medical form) attached here. Payment is $25 and can be submitted online through this link.

At this time chaperones who were chosen based on a lottery system have been contacted.  If you have any questions regarding chaperoning, or if you are no longer to serve as a chaperone, please contact Ms. Schaefer at molly_schaefer@hcpss.org.

We at Murray Hill want all of our students to enjoy the experiences we have to offer which is why we have created a Field Trip Scholarship Fund. This fund helps families cover some of the cost for field trips. If you would like to contribute to our Field Trip Scholarship Fund, we and our students, would appreciate it. Additional funds can be included into your current payment as cash, check, or through the Online School Payment website. Thank you for supporting our Murray Hill Family.
